Curtain raiser program organised ahead of International Yoga day

  As part of preparation for the International Yoga day programme wherein Prime Minister Narendra Modi would perform Yoga at FRI campus, a curtain raiser programme was organised at BR Ambedkar stadium at ONGC here on Thursday.

A galaxy of personalities including Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, Union Minister of state for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik, Acharya Balkrishna, Uttarakhand AYUSH and forest minister Harak Singh Rawat, Swami Chidanand Saraswati of Parmarath Niketan attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Rawat said that Yoga has to be taken to people since it shows the path to make the free from diseases. Claiming that Yoga originated from Uttarakhand, he said that due to the efforts of PM Modi the entire world has recognised the power of Yoga and June 21 is being celebrated as International Yoga Day. Rawat further said that when political power, saint power and spiritualism join hands then it paves way for the welfare of the world. He said that it was matter of pride that Dehradun has been chosen for hosting the national function of the International Yoga Day as it will help Dehradun and Uttarakhand to figure on international horizon. Rawat added that everybody should resolve to do yoga daily to make the world disease free. He called upon the people to participate in the International Yoga Day programme to be held at FRI on June 21.

The Union minister of state Naik said that it was due to efforts of PM Modi that the message of Yoga has spread to the world. He expressed happiness that the national programme on the International Yoga Day is being held in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand onJune 21.

Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev said that people across the world do yoga on International Yoga Day. He said that it is a matter of privilege that Prime Minister has given priority to Dehradun, Uttarakhand for holding the main function of the International Yoga day. He said that there is need to prepare environment for spread of Yoga.

The programme was also attended by MLAs Harbans Kapoor and Ganesh Joshi, Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, DGP Anil Raturi, Union Ayush secretary Rajesh Kotecha,Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurved University Dr Abhimanyu Kumar and many other senior officers.The programme is managed by Director Dr A.K.Tripathi and his team mates,Department of Ayurved and Unani Services,Uttarakhand.

The massive Yoga exercise involving more than 50000 people would be held at FRI campus from 6 am to 8 am on June 21. For successful conduct of the programme, help of Patanjali Yog Peeth, Devsanskriti University, Art of Living, Parmarth Niketan, Brahmakumaris, other organisations and institutes is being sought. The online and offline registration for participation in the programme have started. Free yoga training at Dehradun and Haridwar is being provided to the participants so that there is uniformity in the conduct of main event on June 21.
