CCRAS launches SIDDHI 2.0 to accelerate research-driven innovation in Ayurveda pharma sector

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has launched SIDDHI 2.0 in Vijayawada to accelerate research-driven and evidence-based innovation in the Ayurveda pharma sector. The two-day national conclave aims to strengthen industry–research collaboration, indigenous technology development and quality regulatory frameworks. CCRAS also released the medico-historical publication “Evolution of Ayurveda, Siddha & Unani Drug Regulations in India” and unveiled the Drug Inventory Management System portal. With participation from over 100 delegates and 25+ leading Ayurvedic pharmaceutical companies, SIDDHI 2.0 is positioned as a major translational accelerator for globally competitive Ayurvedic product development and holistic healthcare innovation.

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, has launched the second edition of its flagship industry–research interface initiative SIDDHI 2.0 (Scientific Innovation in Drug Development, Healthcare & Integration) in Vijayawada. The two-day national conclave is being organised by the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Vijayawada, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Vijayawada Zone.

A unified national platform for science-based Ayurveda growth

SIDDHI 2.0 aims to accelerate evidence-based Ayurvedic product development, foster industry–research partnerships, encourage indigenous technology advancement, and strengthen quality and regulatory frameworks for a globally competitive Ayurveda pharmaceutical ecosystem.

During the inauguration, CCRAS released its medico-historical publication “Evolution of Ayurveda, Siddha & Unani Drug Regulations in India” along with the Drug Inventory Management System portal, aligned towards promoting transparency, efficiency and high-quality standards in the Ayush sector.

Leadership perspectives

Prof. Vd. Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS, highlighted that lifestyle-related diseases are on the rise and Ayurveda’s wellness-centric approach is becoming increasingly relevant. He reaffirmed CCRAS’s commitment to collaborative research and assured the industry that IPR generated through joint initiatives will be shared equitably.

Shri K. Dinesh Kumar, IAS, Director (Ayush), Government of Andhra Pradesh, proposed the establishment of a National Ayurveda Institute in the state and emphasized that while modern science has increased life expectancy, Ayurveda can ensure a healthier lifespan.

Dr N. Srikanth, Deputy Director General, CCRAS, informed that the council has validated more than 150 Ayurvedic formulations, including herbo-mineral preparations, supported by extensive data on quality, safety and toxicity. He encouraged the industry, innovators and start-ups to leverage CCRAS’s research infrastructure and industry-friendly policies.

Industry viewpoint

Mr Kiran Bhupatiraju, CEO, Laila Nutra Pvt. Ltd. and Chemiloids Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., stressed the need for modernisation of Ayurvedic herbs and formulations to enhance their global market potential.

Dr V. Nagalakshmi, Chairperson, CII (Vijayawada Zone), observed that the full industrial potential of Ayurveda remains unexplored and emphasized the need for synchronised progress in research, education, manufacturing and industry development to drive employment and economic growth.

Participation and sessions

The conference witnessed participation from more than 100 delegates, including representatives from over 25 leading Ayurvedic pharmaceutical companies from Southern India, researchers, clinicians, academicians, Ayush officials and postgraduate scholars from Dr NRS Ayurvedic College, Vijayawada.

  • industry-ready Ayurvedic formulations
  • collaborative areas for product development and innovation

A step towards a modern evidence-based future for Ayurveda

Envisioned as a national translational accelerator, SIDDHI 2.0 is designed to promote wider adoption of CCRAS technologies by industry, support regulatory enhancement, facilitate global market expansion and drive evidence-based, scalable and innovation-driven growth of the Ayurveda pharmaceutical sector.

With strong convergence of science, research, technology and industry, SIDDHI 2.0 positions Ayurveda to contribute powerfully to India’s national vision for holistic health and global Ayush leadership.
